Summer Cat-stravaganza!

UPDATE: The Summer “Cat-stravaganza” has been extended through September 12th. It is still the purrrfect time to ad a new feline family member!

June was Adopt-A-Cat Month and Animal Haven kicked off the summer with a spectacular cat adoption promotion – our summer “Cat-stravaganza.” Through Labor Day Weekend we are waiving ALL adoption fees on adult cats to approved adopters! Animal Haven’s cat adoption package includes all vaccinations, FIV/FeLV testing, microchipping, the spay/neuter surgery, and flea and tick prevention – a value estimated at $400!

Approximately 4 million homeless cats end up in animal shelters every year in the United States. By adopting from a shelter, you’ll be saving a life! And — having a cat can reduce your blood pressure and prevent heart disease.  Don’t have a lot of room?  Cats are perfect pets for apartments and smaller homes.  And — cats get plenty of exercise living indoors.  Just 15 minutes of playtime each day will satisfy a cat.

The Summer Cat-stravaganza is a fee-waived promotion to encourage cat adoptions, but the costs for providing shelter, food, vaccinations and medical care for more than 150 cats in our shelter continue each day.  Animal Haven relies on the generosity of donors and public support to continue the important work of caring for more than 4,000 lost and homeless pets that come through our doors each year.

  15. I see that the adoption fee is waived for adult cats, are there any other fees associated with adopting them?
    thanks,
    Debbie

  17. No, there are no other fees associated with adopting an adult cat right now, but the cats who have not yet found homes would be very grateful for a donation to help cover the cost of their care.

  19. How many black cats do you have available at this time, we buried our cat named “Angel” yesterday on friday the 13th.

  21. I am thrilled you are trying to place as many kitties as you can. However, please, please be aware of animal experimental groups that search the newspaper for free animals only to be able to do experimental “torture” on them. Even the newspaper, when you place an ad, always tell you DO NOT ADVERTISE FREE because of this. Also, please be careful of whom you place the black cats with, as you know from Halloween horror stories, this is another sick group that has ceremonies with black cats. Thank you for all you do, I am just so very concerned for any animal that is given away.

  31. Hi! I just wanted to say that I adopted my cat “Alton” at Animal Haven last November, and it was the BEST decision I could have made. There was a place set up in Oak Park Mall, and you know how hard it is not to go look at the animals when you see them in there. So, I did, and Alton (now named Max) and I hit it off, and I filled out the application right then. The application process was really simple. I wish I could have taken all of them when I went to pick him up. But he is doing GREAT. I saved him, and he really saved me. He really is one of a kind and a precious new addition to my family. He is THE most affectionate and loving little guy. Thank you to Animal Haven. I would love to send pictures (the volunteers said that he was a favorite there). Could you please let me know where I can send to? Thank you so much!

  35. Whenever we do not charge an adoption fee, the adopters are but through the same approval process as when we do charge a fee.
